OK! As promised, here is the before and after picture of the dresser, and nightstand that I just refinished! They are very beautifully made, all the drawers are dovetailed...something that you don't see any more. Basically indestructible.
I was a little worried at first that it wouldn't look very updated, but as you can see it updated the dresser beautifully. I decided to keep the original pulls, they just fit so perfectly with the dresser.
Process:
Take off all the hardware....
Clean the dresser. Older dressers have a ton of interesting spots, and dirt from the years of use. Make sure that after you have cleaned the surface that there are no chemicals left. I usually just use water. Let it dry completely.
I decided to use a black spray paint for the drawer pulls. Spray paint comes in so many different uses, just make sure you buy a brand that says it will work on metal.
Prime and paint your dresser...After letting it dry completely put a coat of finnish on the top. I like using a polyacrylic because it will not yellow.
The finished product! Dont you just love it!?
Here is the before and after for the night stand...
It is such a cute set! I just drove it over to Finders Keepers! YES!! This set is up or sale along with a beautiful Queen bed frame!

ReplyDeletewondering if you sanded the table at all?.. I have a dresser that is very similar to this- sturdy, heavy solid wood. Love how you redid it... want to start working on mine soon.
