Chalk Paint

OK everyone!!  I have entered myself in Shabby Chic Cottage drawing  for

CHALK PAINT!! HEART!

Gina over at the Shabby Chic Cottage
just did a fantastically cute make over on one of the most darling chairs using this amazing stuff.

I have heard about how awesome this paint is, but haven't had the funds to try it out.  If I win this give away, I will for sure be able to tell if I will be switching over to chalk paint to use on my furniture instead of oil primer, and latex paint...We shall see!

UPDATE:  So very sadly I did not win, but I have some AWESOME refinishing techniques that I will be showing you!

Baby Boy

One of my dearest friends is having her first baby.  Its a Boy!  How exciting.  She has asked me to help her with her changing table.
Here it is!

I love these dressers!  You have seen them before on my blog.  Remember?  My Daughters dresser was the most recent one, and hers came with a mirror.

Here is our inspiration for this fantastic dresser:

I love doing this SO much!
As I was searching for nursery inspiration for her, I was inspired to make a collage.

Its my very first collage, so a bit rough. I love these colors.  Also instead of making a whole cake,  aren't these little cake bites adorable?  They are perfect for a baby shower.

Any way, come back soon for the reveal of her new changing table dresser!

My Dumpster Diving Find...

So I have been DIEing to tell you about this!  I was on my way to work Finders Keepers, and saw this Yard Sale!  It was packed with furniture, beds mostly.  My first thought was to see if my boss Tammie would like to come and buy some of it, then I went hunting.  After talking to them for a few minutes, they pointed me over to a very lonely mirror that use to belong to a beautiful dresser that just happened to be missing.   I bought it right away! $2.00!  Then after talking to them a little more, I found out they threw away the missing dresser because they broke one of the legs.  After getting into there HUGE dumpster I found this...

Before and After Dresser and Nightstand Finished

OK!  As promised, here is the before and after picture of the dresser, and nightstand that I just refinished!   They are very beautifully made, all the drawers are dovetailed...something that you don't see any more.  Basically indestructible.

I was a little worried at first that it wouldn't look very updated, but as you can see it updated the dresser beautifully.  I decided to keep the original pulls, they just fit so perfectly with the dresser.

New Blog Design

So I was inspired this week to change my blog header...Again.  :-)
I will be updating my blog, and adding things to my Etsy shop to get ready for the upcoming Blogtastic Extravaganza.
I love this summers most popular colors,  robins egg blue, and bright yellow!
I love traditional lines, and antique signs, so between all that (and my cute little chair) I think it represents itself very well...What do you think?

~DEALS THIS WEEK~

I know that this happens to you, your looking threw a magazine and suddenly Swoon♥ you see that perfect piece of furniture and it's completely out of your price range.

So I thought that I would start a post about amazingly super good deals that I found, then share were, when, and how I found those deals!

This months deals so far have been OUT OF THIS WORLD!

First up

This gorgeous antique dresser.

Paid $60.00

Average price other places $750.00

I love it!

Second amazing deal:

Paid $40.00
Average price other places $140.00
This adorable apothecary dresser.

Third Amazing Deal:

Paid $40.00
This antique dresser

Average price other places $500.00

3 things that I had to do to get these dressers,  First be aggressive, I called people at 6:30 in the morning!  Some times it is necessary to beat the crowds (apologize for being rude, and say that you just couldn't wait to make it yours).  Second, be willing to drop everything, pull your kids out of bed, and go pay for it!  I have not gone to pick some of these up, but it is mine.  Third, check classifieds, yard sales, thrift stores, antique stores...and yes, even a little dumpster searching has been done to get a great deal. These three dressers were all found on Ksl.com in the last 2 weeks.  I found that it was most effective to check when I wake up in the morning, and before I go to bed.  The antique dresser was put on a little after 10:30 pm.  The apothecary dresser is a find a little after 10:00 Am, and also the antique dresser that has no mirror.

Next week I will be sharing all the Yard Sale finds I made this

week and last week...Check back in I know you'll enjoy it!
